Alexandra Patricia Morgan is a gold medalist soccer player. She has even won the World Cup with her fellow teammates such as Sydney Leroux, Tobin Heath, Hope Solo, and more. Alex is 27 years old, she was born July 2nd, 1989. Her first sport was T-ball and she was very good at it. Her dad taught her how to catch a ball with a glove when she was just six. Her dad loved her to play but one day she wanted to play soccer. “Dad, I don’t like baseball.” She said. Her dad was in shock but he just wanted her to be happy. So he signed her up for AYSO, and she loved it. She was fast and always took shot on goal.
On family game night they played games like Monopoly and the Game of Life. Alex would never win against her sisters. Then one day Alex wanted to challenge her sister Jeri to a foot race. “Challenge excepted, I’m going to win!” Jeri said. Then Alex Morgan left Jeri in the dust, leaving Alex a huge lead. Alex won, she knew she had a talent with speed.
Alex went and tried out for CYSA, a more serious team. She was the fasted at practice, and beat most of the girls to the ball. The coach told her she wasn’t ready. She had to go back to AYSO. Though she is realized maybe she wasn’t ready, so her dad took her outside into the backyard and bought a little pop up goal. They practiced everyday, and when Alex was tired her dad would always say, “If you play a little longer I’ll go get you ice cream from 7-11.” And it would work every time.
By the time Alex was a high school freshman she made it on Varsity team. After 3 years of high school soccer her team practiced with of other teams. Then she fell the ground, a sharp pain went through her knee. She headed to hospital and the doctor said she needed surgery. A couple months after surgery and physical therapy she was back on the field. She started looking at colleges, and she chose Cal Berkley.
She played for the U 17 league for a while when the US team started looking for people to draft onto their team. They looked at Alex Morgan, she was fast, smooth, and had a good shot on goal. So she got drafted onto the USWNT and she was very excited.
She got to play in the world cup and got to be in the Olympics Rio 2016, and loves soccer to this day.
