If you are a big movie fan, your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man will be making a huge change in MARVEL movie history! Have you ever read the MARVEL comics series, “Civil War”? Have you heard about the movie, Captain America: Civil War? Putting these topics together, have you wondered, “How will MARVEL put Spider-Man in this if they don’t own this character?” Well guess what, Sony, the original owner of the Spider-Man character, announced that they made a deal on February 9, 2015, with MARVEL Studios to use Spider-Man in the MARVEL Cinematic Universe. Now you can see Spider-Man with all the other MARVEL characters, such as the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy. You would think this deal would cost millions, but surprisingly it was free. Sony’s “The Amazing Spider-Man” series didn’t do so well with low box office number, raking in a total of 757.9 million and 709 million for both The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2(Box Office Mojo). When the actor playing Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) in these movies was fired (for insulting Sony and not showing up for a conference), Sony decided that they needed a little help (I.B. Times). Since MARVEL Studios has been very eager to get their hands on the Spider-Man character, Sony passed the ownership of Spider-Man over for the MCU movies. The new actor who will be portraying Spider-Man is Tom Holland. His big debut will be in Captain America: Civil War, which will be released on May 6, 2016. Spider-Man has finally came back home to MARVEL Studios and we can’t wait to see what will happen now.
